Quiet change at the top for Germany's external broadcaster Deutsche Welle. The new man, Peter Limbourg, is a seasoned political journalist, editor and TV presenter. He replaces Erik Bettermann who retires in September after 12 years at the top. I note that intensifying DW's cooperation with Germany's public service broadcasters ARD and ZDF is one of the goals he has set himself. What that means to the structure in a few years time is, as yet, unclear. DW is the only external broadcaster I know with two broadcast centres - one in Berlin, the other in Bonn.
