Boston Bombings - Best Coverage

The tragic events during the Boston marathon this afternoon are still unclear at this moment. But impressed by the coverage I found on Boston.com which was bringing several sources together in a calm and collected way. My thoughts are with those people who have been injured. Ahead of the news media.

Vasily Strelnikov in Moscow points out (via Lou Josephs) that live feeds of the emergency services can be found here at the moment. Like listening to a police scanner in downtown Boston - except that I'm the other side of the Atlantic. 60,000 people apparently listening along too on Patriots Day.

On the radio side, the explosions have sent Boston’s news and sports stations into full-coverage mode.  At Entercom, news-talk WRKO (680 kHz) is simulcasting on sports sister WEEI (93.7, 850).   CBS Radio’s all-news WBZ (1030) is simulcasting on “98.5 The Sports Hub” and CHR “103.3 Amp Radio” WODS.
At last check CBS Radio’s classic hits WZLX (100.7) was simulcasting sister WBZ-TV (channel 4).  Over at Clear Channel’s CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM the station was mixing music with listener calls.  The cause of the fatal explosions is still under investigation.
Greater Media CHR “Hot 96.9” WTKK morning personalities Baltazar and Pebbles returned to the radio station this afternoon to provide timely updates, take calls live on the air from listeners and discuss what happened today. Afternoon personalities Steve Kelly from “Country 102.5FM” WKLB-FM and Julie Devereaux from WROR-FM (105.7) are both providing information and traffic updates.  Greater Media Boston says it didn’t have any employees at the race when the explosions took place

Wonder what effect this will have on the London marathon being planned for Sunday?
