Found this comment from former Apple CEO John Sculley more than a little spooky. I have a smart meter installed for both gas and electricity. There is a night and day tariff for electricity. Sculley hints that the Internet of Everything might mean a pricing model based on scarcity rather like UBER provides a taxi service. So when electricity is plentiful it's cheap, but during peak periods the price rises dynamically. Sounds like my thermostat is going to be controlled by the utilities company.
