Blackout - is this a record?

After adjusting for the mid-game blackout delay from ratings and making time zone adjustments, Nielsen gave Sunday night's Super Bowl a haul of 108.41 million total viewers. That means the match between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers was down by nearly 3 million from last year's record of 111.3 million. But I guess its a record for the number of people who watched a blackout. Or is it?

The power outage in New York on August 14th 2003 was pre-YouTube. But there's plenty of evidence of just how massive that was.

My guess is that the power outages in India in July last year were probably watched (and felt by) more people than anything we can ever imagine. 600 million was the estimate.
