Sennheiser has just made a series of vodcasts with Belgian journalist Geert Verdickt who takes you through the main points that you need to keep in mind with audio on video.
Would be useful to have that check-list on the wall as a Word file. And Sennheiser has a walk through video which unboxes one of their wireless sets for video cameras and DSLR.
The audio in most DSLR cameras is the weakest point. Stunning video is not good without stunning sound. You could use a simple headset mike at a pinch, but only in dire emergencies. Various people have done side by side comparisons though I think the video from Chad Johnson below is the best. It's not well tagged on YouTube so it's hard to find.
