Murdoch's tablet The Daily lays off nearly a third of its staff | Media | guardian.co.uk

The Guardian article notes

"In another cost-saving move the title will also stop producing pages that can be read vertically and horizontally on a tablet, sticking to straight up and down."

So the failing Daily is using pretty useless production software if it can't do a Flipboard automatically. Why would it save money? If they were serious they'd make sure that the sign-up page looked fresher than it is. Japanese Tsunami? News? Who are they trying to kid? Why should I pay to find out if they have really got it right? Paywalls don't work for general news. Period.
