Always been concious of the fact that Dutch newspapers have protected the names of defendants by only publishing initials. May be times have changed? I thought not until I watched an item on debt broadcast today by RTL Z, the business news channel run by RTL. Now I know that RTL, coming from Luxembourg, doesn't fall under the Dutch media law. But what is gained by filming and screening what is clearly very private details from the Dutch Tax Authorities and making this an integral part of the reportage? No attempt has been made to blank out the name and address on the Flevo polder in the clip below. Yet those details adds nothing to the item. But it clearly will have an impact on the relationship between this person and his neighbour. So was it deliberate or a slip up?
